Overview
Project-based Work Experience
The internship program provides practical experience in a career
role. The internships are developed around a project that is related
to the degree and career interests of the intern and the business
needs of Aera Energy LLC.* The interns take the role of Project Lead with the expectation
to complete the project within a 9-12 week internship. Interns have
a mentor and other experienced team members to help when needed;
however, the responsibility of the project lies with the intern. At
the end of the summer, interns give a final presentation to
management, team members, and peers explaining the project results
and recommended actions.
Compensation
Along with the applied practical experience, these Internships
offer a competitive pay based on the degree and year in school of
the individual. Interns are reimbursed for travel expenses incurred
while relocating to California for the summer and are
provided a monthly Cost of Living stipend to help defray some of the
higher costs of California living. Organized social activities allow interns to expand their networks with students
from various universities and degrees. In addition, with the 9/80
work schedule giving every other Friday off, interns have plenty of
time to explore California.
Job Location and Program Dates
Most internships are located in Bakersfield, Calif., and some of the
nearby production units, as well as Ventura and Huntington Beach. These production units are within a hours
drive of Bakersfield, so most interns live in Bakersfield. The
program runs from May to September, depending on the intern’s class
schedule. In order to complete the intended project, internships are
9-12 weeks in duration.
